The reason my nation, Italy is involved in world war I, is because in 1830, nationalist leader Giuseppe Mazzini founded Italy. The goal of the secret society was to constitute italy, one free, independant republican nation. After 1848, leadership of the Risorgimento passed to the kingdom of Sardinia. It's constitutional monarch hoped to join other states to his own, increasing his power. Italy wanted respect from other nations. The north side of italy was indusrialized, but the south was not as technologically advanced, so italy as one lacked certain abilities. But all parties must take blame for world war I, because war on both sides was equally committed to military action.
